I did that OpenID thing as well! I think I failed the drawing. Oops. XD

From what I've heard, if you're not randomly chosen for the drawing, you'll automatically get an invite on April 30. Or something.

I really know very little about this whole Dreamwidth thing, to be honest XD

I too have done the open id thing, but I'm not sure what else to do with it. I probably won't do much unless there's some kind of mass exodus. I am planning on making a regular account though on the 30th, just to see what is up though.

It's funny, because I've been ignoring DW for the most part and only heard about the OpenID raffle for invites today. Then, a few hours later, I found out I had apparently been chosen! It's crazy! I almost feel guilty...

that's crazy, I had no clue about any kind of raffle or anything. I just know a few of my flisters have serious plans about it, so I'm going to at least have an account there.

The only way I'd use Dreamwidth is if there was a mass exodus from LJ. There's no point in moving to Dreamwidth if there is no one on my flist to watch!

However, Dreamwidth did promise interoperability of some kind so that you didn't have to start over at their site. I dunno what that's all about, but if that really did happen, maybe it would be worth giving it a shot.

Dreamwidth just seems too similar to LJ, they compare themselves to LJ, too. Seems kinda pointless to me.

A lot of my flist has already migrated and you can, apparently, import your old LJ entries and crosspost automatically from DW.

It's the same LJ code, but their legal and... I guess ethical?... policies are different. They're more fan-friendly and were started, I guess, as sort of an antidote to the increasingly anti-fan tendencies of LJ.

This is all stuff I've heard second hand. Like I said, I'm pretty invested here at LJ and don't plan on leaving unless my whole flist leaves. Right now, even the people who are leaving are planning on crossposting, so that's good for now, but I'm kind of scared of losing all my friends at the same time. Plus, I am paranoid about losing my name on other sites, so it's nice to be able to register it and not have to worry about that XD

You have a point about claiming a name...:| Maybe I'll try to grab my username over there just in case in becomes OMG awesome in the future...

I'm so torn about Dreamwidth! I mean, clearly I'm useless at posting on LJ, what the hell would I do with ANOTHER blog? I'm of the camp that if there's a mass exodus, I'll probably create an account so I can read and what have you later on, but I'm mostly too lazy to care. :)

Your lj and twitter posts make me want to rewatch all of S1 of Psych ... which I never really did in the first place! I feel like that's what I'll be spending my weekend doing now.

Also! I need your expert help! My cousin is having a baby shower and I really want to get her (and by her I mean the baby) some books. I know that this level of kids lit is probably way below your threshold, but if you've seen anything that looks good I'd appreciate the advice! I know I'm getting Goodnight Moon and I'm going to do a little basket with all the little things that get bid goodnight, but I'd really like to find one or two more. My frame of reference is totally stuck in my own childhood, and most of the books I know I want to give him are too old (Where the Wild ( ... )

Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way you do about DW. I'm here for the duration, until everyone else leaves.

I am about halfway through and it is reminding me of how this show is SO my happy place. Just hearing the theme song fills me with glee, and it very rarely makes me emotional or upset the way some of my other favorite shows do XD It's just whimsy and happiness and Shawn and Gus!

They actually do make a board version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar! But my favorites are the ones by Sandra Boynton. She's got a ton, but The Going to Bed Book is cute if you want to do a bedtime theme. And Pajama Time fits the same theme. And I love all her books about dinosaurs. And also But Not the Hippopotamus.

Um, aside from Boynton, a lot of the classics are in board format now. Stuff with repetition is good. The Bear Snores On by ...someone who's last name is Wilson is available in board. It's very cute and another bedtime one. The Raffi songs are available as board books... what else? Jamberry! That's by Degan. And I will have to think on ( ... )

Commence spammage!

YAY! Thank you so much :) I have a B&N right by my office so this is what I plan to do on my lunch tomorrow. I might even take pictures of the results!

(Also, I need a books icon. How do I not have one?)

I have no interest in Dreamwidth, but half of my flist seems to be moving and it's depressing. I'm glad you're not going anywhere just yet.
