nostalgia, of a kind

So, 30 Rock comes back this week, so I've been rewatching it today in order to remind myself, you know, what happened. But what's really happened is that I keep being sucked into these overwhelming waves of nostalgia for Studio 60.

It's weird. I wasn't a huge huge fan of Studio 60, although I had a lot of affection for it. I was tired of hearing ( Read more... )

Yes yes yes, the only reason I finished watching S60 was because of the Big Three and Cal (well, and Stephen Weber whom I love) I like rewatching the first half of S60 and I'll watch and be like this show was really cancelled why? And then I remember why I don't have the second half (except the last few eps) downloaded.

Heh 30 Rock I got into because my Arrested Development obsessed friend made me watch the first ep Will Arnett guest stars in and well, he just makes everything better so I gave the show a chance.

I still have this half-finished fic that took place after the episode where Tom's parents visit. It was all Sim and Harry comforting him and forgoing the end of the party to take him home and take care of him and it pretty much made me happy forever, even though I never finished it. I love love loved those three. I would have watched a show just about the three of them.

Awwww I have something similar except it's just completely self-indulgent Tom hurt with Sim and Harry comfort. It's up there with my GaryStu!Percy and my epic Lorne backstory fic as fics I pull out to think about when I need to feel happy. They are just so awesome and spent entirely too much time apart during the show. They definitely should have been utilized as a trio more often because whenever it was just the 3 of them it always always turned out good.

I like the little lines on the bottom of the screen on CNN. (I'm watching it on the DVR now on CNN.)

Haha, I like CSPAN because all of the lines and pop-ups on the other networks distract me. I am very easily distracted. Although, actually, now that I think about it, I switched from CSPAN to PBS during this one because CSPAN wasn't synced up right on my teevee. But, you know, same thing XD

I miss Studio 60. I loved the big three and Cal, and Matt and Danny (especially when they were being all slashy).

I have not been able to watch more than a an episode or two of 30Rock. It's just too embarrassing for me. But I really miss S60.

We TiVo-ed the debate, so I am off to watch it now (I had a meeting).

I watched three episodes of Studio 60 the other night. I'm not really sure why. I just really wanted to watch a show with decent writing, a plot I enjoyed and characters that were more than just love interests. I think you're right - possibly the strongest thing about the show is the deep, affectionate love that the characters have for each other on a platonic level.
