I'm chilling on the couch with a nice big thing of strawberry yogurt, a box of granola, and yesterday's Doctor Who marathon on my DVR (DVR - great invention or The Greatest invention?). Late tonight I'm going to see The Farnsworth Invention (finally!) with Steven and Priscilla. I have tomorrow off! Wooo ( Read more... )

I love that one so much. I think my mom has whole sections of it memorized, she read it to us so many times XD

But No Elephants! My favourite book from when I was wee! I love that one.

uh, that's all I had to say. except for, if you really are alike to John Sheppard, I worry for a) your state of mind, b) the state of mind of people around you, and c) the not-being-killed-by-you-because-you-are-a-bit-psycho state of people around you. good luck with that.

I have to make sure The Bookstore actually has it. I have my own copy that I could bring in, but I figure it's good to read books that the store actually has so that people will be encouraged to, you know, buy them and all.

The hilarious thing is that I'm not at all like John Sheppard! I don't even like John Sheppard all that much some days! The only things I can say I share with John Sheppard are my appreciation of Rodney McKay's ass and my total slacker laziness. I'm hope I'm not secretly a lunatic.

I'm with you on the Doctor Who front -- I bought season one first purely because it was the only one available when I started watching and I wanted to catch up (I first saw the show AND wanted to keep watching it midway through the first transmission of the second series while I was in Scotland). I never bought the second series, save for two single DVDs that had my favourite episodes. Largely because I thought the rest was rubbish. (I've softened my view since reruns on BBC2, but I still won't buy it.) Series three is far better but I bought that largely because I had to have it to get it signed and I had nothing better to do that day than hang about in London with CRAZY PEOPLE, so it's all good.

But yeah. Those are totally my favourite episodes too. AND JACK. I love Jack. Don't get me wrong. But when I watched Any Dream Will Do and saw Johnny-boy trying to coach the other boys on acting, I peed myself. Admittedly he does act well for the stage, but it doesn't translate well to television, generally. Although sometimes he comes ( ... )

See, I really like S2. Not more than S1, but I thought it was enjoyable, at the very least. I liked it about as much as I liked S3, now that I think about it.

aklsdjfioewjfklsd It's at the end of the episode with The Doctor and Rose dancing to "In the Mood" and I love it more than anything :D :D :D

I can see, in John's teevee acting, that he's probably a great actor on stage. But, ah, slightly different medium, here. And it's just so hilarious. I almost feel like either his "acting" has helped shaped the character or the "acting" is very nearly in the character of Jack, if that makes any sense.

(I feel the same way about Joe Flanigan in SGA--I think that he's become a better actor over the year by a TON, but many of his early, ah, experiments with the character have actually shaped a lot of the characterization of John Sheppard, even three years later. It's kind of cyclical and hilarious.)

I think I didn't like S2 much because it was so much Rose/Doctor fanfic. In some ways. (It does a disservice to even Rusty to say that it was as bad as some of the very very bad fic out there.)And I realise the other day that the first time I saw and stopped watching the series (which must have been mid to late 2005) was because of Rose. I saw Rose and the pure idiocy of the ending left me fuming. Just the way she up and left her life and Mickey. WHO WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE. Admittedly I thought Mickey was a twat (now I rather <3 him, actually), but it just soured the character for me. I didn't really warm to her again until Father's Day, and although now I like her well enough I just find her largely irritating. I probably prefer Martha, although only when she's not wanking over the Doctor. Er. Yeah. ^___ ( ... )

John Barrowman is proof that people that ridiculously pretty can do whatever they want.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD IT'S SO TRUE. XD

I seriously laughed out loud at that. ::cough:: Anyway, give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the invite. Right now I am watching the one S2 episode of Eureka I missed and remembering how much I loved S1. I am so against Henry's angry vendetta D:

Hahaha, thanks! I don't really care about the cast that much--I'm more going for the writing. But I appreciate the heads up!
