Kait: My friend lurkmuch had a dream that she was trapped in a prison in Pegasus with Erik and they had to wait for Lorne's team to come rescue them. I told her I want fic of her dream and now she wants me to write it. I...have a history of doing that.
Margaret: Oh my god, Kait.
Kait: And now I'm thinking about it? And I can't decide if Charles or Erik would be in charge. Because Erik's military, obviously, and Charles is science. Maybe Erik is supposed to be in charge but everyone likes Charles so much they only listen to him?
Margaret: Maybe it's a science team and Erik is the grunt, so technically he's in charge, but they just run off and do their science thing.
Kait: Oh my god, I love it. Is Raven a scientist--or, I mean, I can see her being military, but also maybe just being a scientist who's trained in military-type shit and more active than scientists usually are.
Margaret: I think it's probably that way.
Kait: And Angel's a Marine. And Alex and Darwin--
Margaret: They're botanists!
Kait: I was gonna say military, but I like that. The Lorne and Parrish of XMFC.
Margaret: Exactly.
Kait: Charles has been working for the SGC for years but initially turned down the Atlantis project because he had his sister to look out for without realizing that Raven's ALSO been working for the SGC and they're both really good at keeping to their NDAs. So since they're the only family they have, at that point they're like, "SIGN US UP." Erik chose to leave to get away from Shaw who was giving him shit in the military or something.
Margaret: He still has an engineering degree?
Kait: Yeah and Rodney refuses to believe it's "real" and still treats him like he's stupid, but Charles is utterly charmed by it, of course. And Ronon is like, his BFF because Erik likes people who never talk and don't bother him about stupid shit. And, of course, somehow falls for Charles anyway.
Margaret: He and Ronon just hang out and don't talk and sharpen knives.
Kait: Sometimes John comes too, but he feels like he doesn't have enough testosterone to be in the room.
Margaret: They let him stay anyway because they know how he is about feelings and they designate the room as a safe space for that.
Yeah, we're totally working hard here today.
