Find your way in a city: Studio 60 - Matt/Harriet allfireburns March 9 2008, 02:06:52 UTC
"Matthew, I really think that maybe you should pull over and take a deep breath before you try to drive any more."

"I'm fine. And anyway, I don't have time to pull over and take a deep breath."

"But you think we have time for an emergency room visit?"

"Now you're just being overdramatic."

"That's what they pay me for."

*

"I missed the turn, didn't I?"

"About five turns back, yeah."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I was thinking about other things."

"Why?"

"I'm sorry, was I supposed to be giving you directions?"

"Oh my God..."

*

"What's the next street?"

"Nichols Canyon Road."

"Don't you think we should have passed that by now?"

"Very probably, yes."

"Where the hell am I going?"

"Nichols Canyon Road."

"Thank you.

*"You don't think this is getting a little ridiculous ( ... )

The Stormbringers called forth the fog, nigh on ten months ago. You can't see three feet in front of you, have to feel along the edges of the buildings to get anywhere worth going ( ... )

I love the idea of the fog and the way it's supposed to do one thing but instead forms this community. It kind of reminds me of the Stephen King story "The Mist," but without giant bugs eating people and child sacrifice.

What a nifty idea! The fog turning into a force of unity instead of causing dissent among the city-dwellers. :)

"We're never going to be there in time!" Jack says, glancing at his watch and then down the street that has no gigantic sign telling them that the building right there is the one where the production of Billy Elliot is being held ( ... )

find your way in a city - original - gideon/mirek pocky_slash March 9 2008, 02:09:29 UTC
Mirek likes doing taxes. He says it's calming, which Gideon just doesn't understand, and offers to do Gideon's on top of his own and the shop's. Gideon tries to resist ("I can afford to pay a guy to do it for me, you know."), but Mirek wins, just like he always does, and before long it's a rainy, cold Friday night in late February and Mirek and Crystal are sprawled all over the living room with piles and piles of papers and calculators as Matilda and Aaron watch teevee in the bedroom ( ... )

You have amazing fast fingers, first of all. And second of all, this made me laugh and sympethize. Getting lost in your own city is just not cool.

Oh my god. This is another side of the boys that I haven't really seen. I LOVE IT. Then, you know me, I love everything Gideon, Mirek, et. al.

Does Mirek want to do my taxes? Cause I don't want them!

And poor Gideon! Lost amid the scary scary Brooklyn. I once got lost in NYC for TWO HOURS. I'm quite traumatized. :)

Find Your Way in a City: Road to El Dorado - Miguel and Tulio semirose March 9 2008, 02:11:16 UTC
You wouldn’t think one could get lost in a city as small as El Dorado, especially since their lodgings were the highest point in the city and could be seen from everywhere, and yet somehow they were lost.

“Just ask for directions if you’re so eager to get back Chel.” Miguel snapped.

“We can’t ask for directions, we’re supposed to be gods, gods don’t get lost. You’re the one who’s been wandering around when you’re not supposed to.”

“Only because you were too busy with Chel,” Miguel turned and ran off leaving Tulio.

“Shit,” Tulio swore under his breath before running off after Miguel, “You’re such a child,” he yelled and all of a sudden found himself face first in the ground.

“This isn’t the way to the temple,” he said, flipping himself over planning to yell a Miguel and finding himself alone in an alley.

“…now how am I supposed to get back?”

I swear I had somewhere else where this was going, but then I forgot about halfway through and then had to end it.

If I wasn't thinking cartoon while I was reading this I don't know if it would have been as cute as I think it is. If that makes any sense. But I really liked it.
