At the beach, as a child, Alan was once pulled out in a riptide; it was a gentle riptide, barely anything at all, but at five years old, all Alan could do was stumble to his feet and try to regain his footing, right before being swept up again, struggling over and over again until a lifeguard gave him something to hold onto, thinking all the while that it was nearly as thrilling as it was terrifying.

Having a baby is just like that riptide: the notion of being overwhelmed over and over again, pulled out every time he thinks he has his footing, struggling for breath and composure, except that this time... this time, he has Danny to hold on to.

Alan! Baby! Awwwwwwww. He's scared but he has Danny so they'll all be okay.

Ahaha, that is actually Based On A True Story. Not the baby part, the riptide part. It was my brother, and it was hilarious.
