Children of Men

I just watched Children of Men today and... God, it's one good movie! Although the story's quite different, it reminded me a lot of Crash, which was another movie I loved. Maybe it's the way both movies handled the subject--straightforward and to the point. They don't try euphanize the situations, but rather pretty realistically, which is more ( Read more... )

I watched this movie, too. The realistic setting was really striking (though at some points in the camp around the end it reminded me of scenes from Half Life 2). The scene when they were walking out from the building surrounded with soldiers was simply beautiful. I'm interested in the book, don't you want to get a copy of that :P?

Oh yeah, I loved the part where they were walking out in a war-torn setting, but there was total silence contrasted with the previous rampage. Definitely a nice scene. Hm... book... I really should try reading it huh. But then I still have to finish reading Memoirs of a Geisha. Been so lazy to read lately ~_~ Especially since I already have a lot to read with the news and stuff.

Excuses, excuses... I'm sure you can find time if you want to. Are you a fast reader?

Ha, Memoirs of a Geisha. Knew you were uninnocent!

Btw, there was something I didn't like in Children of Men. The main guy. He walks around like the superhero who will save the world, but what do we learn of his motives? Not much, do we?

I'm a really slow reader ._. Ask keppim, he knows. What's wrong with Memoirs of a Geisha?? I didn't mind the main guy. To me, he didn't seem like he was trying to save the world. I felt that he was more of one of those guys who wouldn't normally be considered a hero... Forgot the term for it. Anyway, I thought that he was just kinda cynical about the whole world after his kid died, like he didn't care about anything that would happen anymore. Then when he met Key, things changed and he was sort of "forced" into his hero position. Like it gave him new hope sort of thing... I would think that's his motive.
