Nothing.

No sense of Muraki that he could find, but he wasn't sure he wanted to try to delve deeper. Trying to hide a faint wince, he stopped focusing on his surroundings lest he get caught up in something he'd much rather avoid. There was a little more that this room had seen than he could get through, but it was her sense of loss that cut him most deeply.

He understood. No matter how he tried to close himself off from other people, he was far too familiar with those feelings. If something happened to--

"I'm sorry," he found himself murmuring softly. Though those words sounded like a polite formality, they had caught even Hisoka himself off guard. The way he caught himself gave him away, he wasn't quite looking at her anymore, taking a half-second to force himself to refocus on exactly why he was here.

The words, the tone, the way he seemed almost surprised he'd said them, they all caught her attention. Curiosity piqued, Integral tilted her head, staring at him with an unwavering gaze. If Hisoka hadn't seemed so startled by it, she could've let it pass.

"Sorry?" Repeated she, more than a small hint of suspicion in her tone. "For what?" Perhaps, just perhaps she was being overly accusatory. Perhaps this boy thought Alucard dead or some such highly probably thing.

"Nothing, I shouldn't have said anything," Hisoka brushed the question aside with a slight shake of his head, and with it tried to do the same for his sudden and inexplicable sympathy for her. It wasn't in his nature to get too involved in affairs of other people so easily, and the atmosphere of this place was unsettling as it was for a reason he wasn't completely capable of defining.

Intending to keep from getting derailed further, he met her gaze and moved on.

"You know of the edited surveillance footage that was released six days ago," he didn't so much ask as state, Integral Hellsing was a member of what passed for law enforcement here. They had to be aware, perhaps even investigating it themselves.

Not that one could have faith in the system in a place like Pluto IX, unfortunately.

The boy's words, his demeanor served only to rouse more suspicion in Integral. Hisoka surely must've been expressing his condolences for Alucard. What else could it have been? "He isn't dead," she blurted out, her tone insistent. Whether she was trying to convince herself or Hisoka, it was hard to tell. She'd leaned forward in her chair, her hands pressing hard to her knees as she spoke. From the look on her face and the moment it took Integral to return to a more relaxed position, it was obvious she hadn't meant such an outburst either.

It was hardly a moment before Integral leaned back, crossing her arms across herself. "Yes, I'm aware of it," affirmed she in a more business-like tone. "I'm also aware that whomever it was that accosted me also has an intimate knowledge of surveillance cameras blind spots. What are you getting at?"

It was better to not acknowledge that sudden assertion, Hisoka decided, but only after he'd inclined his head slightly in what could have passed for agreement. The look in his eyes became just a little more shuttered, a little more distant. That darkness hovered on the edges of his senses, he almost wanted to believe her even when she wasn't sure she believed herself ( ... )
