I find this a very moving image, actually.

Me, too. It reminds me of the tombs we saw in Portugal with the effigies holding hands. But this, as you point out, is even more immediate.

That is indeed an amazing picture. I would totally dig that on a Valentine.

Thanks for posting it.

I saw this and it made me think about all the possibilities for a creative writing exercise. I don't think you are the only one with an active imagination! It's a great image for that sort of thing.

I can't stop my mind from trying to fill in the gaps when I see interesting things like this. After I read the article my writer-brain went haywire trying to create a context and backstory. It's a gift if you can turn it into creative writing, or a curse if you don't have time!

I thought of you when I saw that story, actually. :-)Not likely that somebody in their day arranged them like that if they were already dead, so they might have been clinging to each other as they were dying.
Actually, neolithic burials were sometimes quite ritualized, so it seems at least possible to me that the bodies might have been posed like that after death. Makes me curious about the excavation site.

If they died someplace accessible to scavengers and weren't moved, their bones would probably have been scattered, so the fact that the skeletons are complete and posed naturally suggests that they were buried (intentionally or accidentally) or otherwise protected.

Anyway, it’s a very sweet image!

PS - I love you.

(intentionally or accidentally)

That occurred to me; accidental burial. I wondered too if they might have been human sacrifices buried alive. (*shakes that thought voilently out of head*). Plumtreeblossom: Amateur Historical Forensics Sleuth.

PS -- I love you too! Gonna skeleton-hug you tomorrow. :-)
