On the GOP and the RNC

Last night was such a blast; who'll be watching McCain's speech tonight?

My thoughts on Palin's speech are as follows (in bullet points)

  • she has a smirk of her own!
  • too divisive
  • too many character attacks
  • too much hate mongering
  • no substance -- where do you stand on the *issues ( Read more... )
  • politics

I consider myself a moderate as well, but this election rhetoric is so depressing to me, I just want to block everything out. I don't know if you remember Margaret Atwood's book, The Handmaiden's Tale, but the term the fictional powers used for lesbians was "gender-traitor," and that's how I see Palin. Her point of view is so narrow-minded that she betrays everyone who disagrees with her. The last time I checked, a narrow majority of our citizens favored abortion rights ( ... )

I can't believe I'm about to say this:

    OMG. I agree with you.

    *fallsoverdead*

    Hehehehehehehe!

You can't go to England unless you take me, too. I still think there's hope that if we beg them hard enough, they'll take us back...

(even though Pen scolds me for that thought ;-P)

    Word, yo.

I've always considered myself a moderate too. I actually was pondering today at what point I started to lean even further left. I question whether it was a change in my beliefs or that the right has become way too right as the recent years have gone by. I suspect the latter.

I mentioned when I got to work this morning that I was le sleepy from having stayed up to watch Palin's "speech", etc. My boss said flatout she wasn't impressed, however my co-worker said she thought the speech was really good. I sighed. I don't know her very well, but from the impressions I've got of her over the past couple months, it wouldn't surprise me at all if she was one of those women that the Repubs are targeting with Palin!power! Sadly, it sounds like in my co-workers case, it probably worked.

I really would like to watch McCain's speech tonight, but I dunno if I'm gonna make it. I'm so effing tired.

I think we are moderates. It's just that the right is sooooooooooooo far right that we look far left.
I think Palin did address some issues. Her stance on the environment? Drill baby, drill. Her stance on abortion rights? Right to life. (The fetus's life- not the mother's if her life is in jeopardy -then not so much the right to life).
Earmark spending? Not good if the nation catches wind of it and says "Hell no!" Then she says 'Hell no", too.

I can't watch the speech today because I have a stupid meeting at stupid work. Enjoy the speech for me! Let me know if they forget to mention that McCain was a POW. I think he was...I'm not sure.
