I love the simultaneous formality and humor of the narrative voice (and the way it occasionally slides into more informal phrasing without losing that basic formality), and all the clever fairy-tale touches like the animal helper, the thorn hedge, the importance of keeping promises, the riddle game, the fattening up of a child for nefarious purposes (and the plot's reversal so the evil captor is killed/cooked instead) -- oh, it's just lovely fun all through. Also, unlike many fairy-tales, this one includes parents who are neither dead nor evil, which is another nice touch. :-)

I loved it-- and I am NOT a fan of plot that has been separated from its proper and fitting Porn.
Nor am I in any way a fan of incest, so go you, go Connie, and go Bill!
