Salad

I've been eating salads as part of my lunch for the last few months - partly because I figured I should eat some more veg. I'm a fairly sedentary person, so I should at least eat healthily even if I never quite seem to make time for the exercise bit of a healthy lifestyle ;) Of course it's not as healthy as all that, I drown my salads in salad ( Read more... )

Benedict would eat the same lunch every day if he could get away with it. It drives me mad (I have to make it, after all) and we've settled on his lunch one day and mine the next.

(He could make his own lunch, but I'm very strict about having enough fruit and veg, so like to know exactly what he's got.)

See for me (and possibly Benedict too) there's something almost comforting about having the same thing each day ... I do see that it needs to be something nutritionally comprehensive (hence my salads), tho.

That makes sense. Also, his dad always has sandwiches, which probably influences him (but Jon has different fillings, whereas Benedict only likes cheese sandwiches).

I couldn't stand having the same thing for lunch each day, or the same thing for dinner more than twice a week. Variety is better for you nutritionally since there's a greater chance your body will get more of the nutrients it needs, and less chance you will be deficient in something important.

Re salads you've given me an idea for what to have for lunch tomorrow, something I used to get from the local cafe near where I worked years ago. Cold pasta salad - with either chicken or ham, with bell peppers, onions, cucumber etc and dripping in mayonnaise :-)
