That also caused the ominous leakage I noticed when the car was being towed. That sucks :( Glad it was a cheap fix, at least. Yeah, I probably would've gotten a new car a few thousand dollars ago if I were you, LOL, so I say go for it. I know you love your car, though. Sometimes I regret not paying to have my GTI fixed... even though it was cheaper to get another car. I loved my GTI so freakin' much :(
