Elphie finally succeeded in saving Chistery from the big mean door. The monkey flew into her arms and curled up in them, chattering for a moment or two before finally venturing up to her shoulder and glaring at the door.
"He managed to get his tale stuck in the door," she replied, picking up her broom that she'd dropped on the floor.
The monkey glared at Ford and held up it's tail as if to say 'See! It's really long!' Then Chistery pointed to the door and squawked angrily.
"Use your words Chistery," Martha prompted then turned back to Ford. "My guess is he went to see what was inside and then turned back and the door slammed shut before he could get all the way out."
Elphie raised a hand to fight off whatever had a hold of her now, only to stop her swing just shy of Ford. Her hand dropped instantly. "You! Ford!" She looked up at the pod that looked as though it were going to come back for me. "Let's get out of here!" she cried and began running towards the door. "Chistery!"
The monkey clung to her when they were back outside, pulling on her hair and otherwise making sure she was still alive. Then he found something in her hair and happily settled on her shoulders, happily grooming her.
Elphie, for her part, turned to Ford. "I... I'm sorry... I didn't listen to you. You were right."
Oops, she'd managed to step in the wrong pile of words again. She conceded. "Let's try it your way. You were right about the plants in the conservatory after all."
