Loneliness Sets In

Who: Ford and Elphie
Where: Ford's room, mostly.
When: An unclear number of days after Elphie disappeared.
What: Sleep is plagued by nightmares and waking is just WEIRD.

Elphie opened her eyes. She was in Ford's room, in his bed. It felt wrong. She was curled up next to him... his arm was over her, but she could have sworn she had just been in the cafe hall. She had thrown the coffee and the cake against the wall and was going to see Jack.

The room spun and her stomach threatened to empty itself.

Deciding it was just a dream, she snuggled closer to the sleeping alien and fell back asleep.

It was the movement that woke Ford.

His eyes slowly fluttered open... and then he shot backwards off the bed like he'd been scalded, onto the floor with a resounding thump.

"Zarking farquads!" he exclaimed.

Elphie woke with a start and jumped off the bed in the other direction as her mind suddenly yelled WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!! "CAFE!" was the only thing she managed to yell out.

"Why do you want to go to the cafe in the middle of the night?" Ford asked anxiously, starting to think he'd dreamed the past week or so.

"If you're the ruler of that place, what's all this wizard business? I thought he was in charge?"

He wasn't really sure how it all worked. He only knew what he could piece together from what Elphie had told him.

She thought about the best way to explain it and turned to the desk for a piece of paper and a pen. "Oz is shaped like a diamond" she explained as she drew said shape on the paper. She then drew a cross through the diamond. "It's made up of four... countries we call them... Munchkinland to the East..." she indicated on the map with a large M. "Gillikan to the North, The Vinkus to the East, and the Quadling to the south."

She then drew a circle in the middle. "Then there's the Emerald City. It's the capital of the... group of countries. So each country has it's own ruler type person, and then they are supposed to answer to the ruler in Oz. For many years the rulers were of the Ozma line. But then the Wizard came."

"Oh."

He looked at the drawing.

"So he got rid of all the rulers or just you?"

[wicked_west]

"My sister became the ruler of Munchkinland when I disappeared. I went underground in the Emerald City to disrupt the man. Then I ended up in the Vinkus... the Vinkus doesn't really have a ruler... they are all just tribesman. I was just the Wicked Witch at Kiamo Ko."

[got_his_towel]

"Do you feel like it's the middle of the night?" he asked curiously, following her. "I mean, do you feel like it's the time of day it is, or the time of day you left?"

She thought about it. "Honestly, I just feel really really sick."

[got_his_towel]

"Oh," Ford said, glancing around.

"Maybe..."

His eyes fell on the bucket.

"Are you sure you don't want to take that with you?" he asked uneasily.

"I can sleep in the chair if you'd rather not risk me vomiting on the bed," she offered, as she picked up the bucket.
