A towel around her neck and her nose stuck in a book, Dawn let her feet take her on the now familiar route to the pool. Her plan for the afternoon was to take a quick dip and then find a sunshine patch to read in for a couple hours. Hip-checking open the door she didn't look up from her reading until she realized that the acoustics of her flip flops against the tile floors was not at all what she was expecting.

"Whoa, so not the pool," she announced startled, looking around the clinical space and then over her shoulder at the doorway she had just walked through. "I seriously got turned around somewhere," she said peaking back out into the hallway, trying to figure out where she went wrong.

Hearing a voice, Owen stood up and looked in the direction it came from. He'd noticed a heavy duty electric cable that seemed to be routed around the back of a cupboard and had been trying to work out where it went.

"Hello?" He called, walking forwards. A young girl had her back to him and was looking through the doorway. Anger rising, he tried to keep the tone of his voice friendly. This bloody place! What the hell was it doing kidnapping a kid?

"You looking for somewhere else?" Stupid question really, but it was possible he wasn't the first person to find his way here (or back again for that matter).

Dawn visibly startled when someone spoke behind her, not having realized she wasn't alone in the room. "Holy Cheetos!" she exclaimed spinning around with a jump. "You'll give a girl a heart attack doing that," she scolded crossly, more embarressed than angry.

"Yeah, the pool," she answered his question. "Which you know, this is obviously so of the not."

Ardeth found navigating the hotel very frustrating. He was used to the shifting desert sands, but at least north was always in the same direction.

Looking for the dining room he'd been in the previous day, he pushed open a door. It was some kind of... laboratory, perhaps? He'd never seen a room like it. A man and a young girl were inside.

He glanced around at the odd machinery and cold, sterile-looking cabinets as the door swung shut behind him.

Ardeth looked at Dawn oddly when she mentioned the unwrapping parties. He'd never heard of such a tradition and, while he found many of the British to be fairly macabre, he was pretty certain their interest in ancient tombs had more to do with the treasure than the dead. Desecrating the bodies as entertainment at a party was a little... sick.

He shook himself out of it and looked at Owen. "The boy king's tomb was discovered in 1922," he said. "My people were once tasked with protecting the resting places of the pharoahs, but we were tasked to protect other secrets of the Upper Kingdom after the reign of Seti I."

Owen shrugged, "Think I'm getting mixed up with Indiana Jones."

"Really?" Interested, he looked at Ardeth, wondering how much information about these other secrets he was likely to divulge.

"So I guess you and your people aren't to fond of the Discovery Channel are ya then," Dawn quipped before remembering there was no basic cable in 1933.

He looked oddly at Dawn again, not having the first idea what she was talking about, then looked at Owen.

"I am Medjai," he said simply.

"Such as?" Ardeth asked. He could imagine the sorts of things that might require such a well-equipped hospital, but for them to be 'caused' by the hotel?

Owen shrugged, "No bloody idea- that's what's worrying me." He gave him a sympathetic glance, if the Hotel was suddenly changing it's attitude to them, then Ardeth hadn't arrived at a very good time, unless of course they were going to need his expertise, in which case, it was a plus for them (but probably still not great for him.)

"But things have happened here that make you believe it is possible," Ardeth supposed.

"Anything's possible. How many places do you know where the rooms move at will and food appears in front of you- and not always when someone brought it to you?"

"I know of at least one person having an accident that may have been caused by the Hotel one way or another, it wouldn't surprise me if there were others. Examples of it's ability to create illusions of various kinds, if you were paranoid, you could say they were examples of it trying out various techniques on us to see which created the maximum impact."
