Futility

So, after going home from the hospital, we went over to the house of the firends that were taking care of our kids. Jolene had me try sitting with my butt elevated and with hot and warm packs on my belly in hopes of encouraging him to turn. He didn't, though, the stinker ( Read more... )

I'm sorry about all the up and down.

Have you looked into chiropractic? Jake was footling breech at 37 weeks and really low. Like, when she checked me, she felt a foot. I went to a chiropractor who does Webster, and that boy flipped and went head-down.

Do you know a good way to find a chiropractor who has experience in doing such a thing? Because that's what Kaladin is doing. It totally wigged the nurse out when she felt him kicking her when she checked me. :p

Thinking of you.

With the baby in the current position, will they deliver him by cesarean no matter what? Or would your doctor be supportive of a vaginal delivery? What if he were 'regular' breech?

You may know/remember that my second was born at home in like no time at all while the midwife was on her way. I was told by two or three midwives after that that while an unassisted birth is many parent's worst nightmare, actually the huge majority of babies who come fast (in the car or at home before the hospital is in sight or the midwife is there) are completely and totally healthy, that babies tend to take their time if they themselves aren't completely ready to be born.

I hope things go well and you both come out of this crazy ride healthy and well.

If he were butt breech, she'd be totally fine with delivering him vaginally. She's really been a strong proponent of trying for a VBAC this entire time. If it's footling, though, she's very concerned that he'd get stuck, since there's not enough pressure to make the cervix dilate all the way. With him in his current position, c-section is the plan.

I'd actually be OK with an unassisted birth in the car or whatever if he were in a good position. I've taken hypnobirthing and I feel confident I could do it. His current position, though, makes me as nervous as it does my doctor.

Poor thing. That sucks. I'm praying for you to have smooth sailing from here on, and a beautiful healthy baby very soon.

It really sounds like he's not ready to be born, this early. Your body may be ready for him to come out, but that's not in his best interest. Our bodies dont have some innate knowledge of what's best for the baby. I know it's terrible when your pg and suffering through prodromal labor, I've been there 3 times. I will pray for you to get some relief. Hang in there.

Oh Beth, I can't even fathom how frustrated you must be feeling right now. I really hope that your contractions stop for a good while, so that little guy has a chance to flip over, or at least stick his legs up so his tushy is presenting instead of his feet, and some of the stress can disappear. *hugs*
