Sakura-Con YGO cosplay and... zombies?

Feb 22, 2012 23:16

Hey everyone, this post is going to be directed mostly at YGO fans who live in the Pacific Northwest area of the USA, but! I'm sure YGO fans of any persuasion can find humor in what I'm trying to do.

I want to do Thriller, with YuGiOh characters.

Aww! Yea it would have been great to have a Thief Bakura. If anything changes and you're able to make it, the submission deadline for the skit isn't for another month yet. Otherwise, I'll definitely be posting video of the skit here. :) That way everyone who can't attend can see it too.

And if you have any friends in WA who might want to do this, you can always forward this/ my username for contact. Like I said, I'm not too picky since I'm having trouble gathering a group in the first place. No YGO costume required, just zombie make-up! YGO costumes are a plus though, of course. :D

People still go to Sakura-Con? The people who run it are jerks.

I'm not really a fan of the management either, but one doesn't have to be best friends with the staff to enjoy the convention...

A few maybe, but there are still some pretty decent folks who're part of con staff. The problem with a con getting as big as SC has is that things get harder and harder to be as fun as regular cons, due to increasing troubles in running it and increasing costs of paying for space, etc. Btw, a lot of suck that's happened in the past few years have been the result of the stupid convention center being asses to the con staff - not the staff's fault. Like for example this year's BS with the elimination of the 1 day badges, which is thanks to the jerks at the center who feel that it's a serious hazard of how many people always attend on just Saturday alone (besides the other days) and they forced the staff to get rid of them. I mean, yeah, it kinda is a hazard, but getting rid of the 1 day badges is mean to the folks who enter the mascot contest each year who look forward to seeing their artwork appear on the 1 day badges. *sigh* Massive bummer, but complying with the desires of the convention center is the only option if the con wishes to ( ... )

I'm surprised it's so big given the fact that their advertisements are offensive towards the people they are trying to attract to it.

Bummerrr! I'm still looking for a Yugi too! I may have found one but it's not a for sure thing. :/

What cons do you go to, out of curiosity? ;D I don't really go to other anime cons anymore and am limited in travel this year but I am considering going to Fanime.

I'll definitely post videos!

PS I'd love to see pictures of your Yugi cosplay!

I usually go to more of the North East coast cons, AnimeBoston, Otakon etc.

These are pics from otakon last year:

Those are the most recent pictures, but I don't have many professional ones from Otakon XD And I'm poor, so I'm still working on his school uniform jacket.

Oooh I've seen your costume online before! Nice job. :D

I'm a cheater, and I'm not making Yugi's school uniform jacket. Instead I found an awesome 80's blue leather jacket at a thrift store and am just going to attach a buckle to the cuff. (picture!)

It may not be completely accurate, but it works for me. It matches my Thriller idea anyway because with the incredible 80's shoulder pads it does look a bit like a blue version of MJ's outfit, hahaha! And I'm going as zombified Dark Yugi anyway so no matter what I'm doing an alternate version of his outfit so I feel I have an excuse to bend the look a bit. Everything else will be pretty accurate though. :) I'm hoping that's how I'll get away with the jacket!

May have already posted the info for this on the dA page for Umbrella Duelists, but this does bring up an interesting thought to my mind - just how many Yu-Gi-Oh cosplayers are in this group who live around the PNW? Besides you, me, and lavaliere, of course... (and also KatsuyaKaiba, who attends SakuraCon regularly even though she lives way over in Montana; and slifertheskydragon, who regards northern Ca. as part of the northwest)

Did this happen? Was this a thing I missed when I stupidly left Washington during the time of Sakura Con? There are people on this community that live near me? ALL THE QUESTIONS IN MY HEAD RIGHT NOW.

What is this.

This didn't happen, sadly. But YGO cosplay did happen! I finished my dark Yuugi costume and you can see it ~HERE~!

I just couldn't recruit enough dedicated cosplayers before the event. But I think I recruited a lot of interest with some local fans who liked my costume at the convention, and I would still really love to do this skit next year if it could be organized.

Do you cosplay YGO? :D

First, that is honestly the most fucking epic Yami cosplay I have ever had the pleasure of looking at.

And that's sad! I love group cosplays, and especially when they all dance together because LOL seriously.

I have never actually cosplayed YGO, sadly, but I have been making every plan to do so in any upcoming convention. My desire to wear Yusei Fudo's hair is ridiculous, plus, there has never been a day in my whole life that I haven't wanted to put on Kaiba's battle city jacket.

Basically, I WISH I was a YGO cosplayer. xD I have every intention of turning into one.
