Even though its supposed to be in Japan, I always thought of it as an American city. Its got a San Fransisco feel to me. XD

The dub did allow for it to take place in California; I think someone mentioned previously that there was a very brief line in the episode where Ishizu first showed up that had someone in the background saying "Welcome to California, Miss Ishtar" or something like that ( ... )

Hello back to you! Reg. Domino's location- I have no freaking clue! I've thought about it a few times, but ultimately realized I only vaguely know the shape of Japan anddddddddd...that's it XD So you're guess is as good as mine!

I've always had this vague hope that it was in the Kansai region somewhere (which mostly stemmed from that game they played with the okonomiyaki grill in the manga, but), but I also have a bias towards the Kansai region. >.>; I don't think many of the characters use Kansai dialect, though, so that probably disproves me right there.

That being said, there are a LOT of places in Japan next to the ocean (for obvious reasons), so it's really hard to tell. Kazuki Takahashi's from Tokyo, so he might have just based it on some area near Tokyo Bay...

*puts too much thought into this*

Yu-Gi-Oh would be so awesomely different if it was focused on the Kansai region though. If Yuugi and his friends were all from there and Kaiba was this hoity-toity Tokyoite, it would kind of fit with the regional stereotypes in Japan.... Speaking of which, I'd love to do a voice analysis on the original characters. Weren't Haga and Ryuuzaki supposed to be regional Japanese champions, so one of them would have been from the north, and another from the south? (My bet's on Ryuuzaki for being the Kansai-region guy.)

But okonomiyaki grills exist all over, and okonomiyaki restaurants in Japan aren't too hard to find, even if the dish originated in the Kansai region. I had some of THE MOST DELICIOUS okonomiyaki in Harajuku, of all places. And some other place in Tokyo near Asakusa, I think, but I forgot where ;_; My dream okonomiyaki, come back to me...!

Like dragondancer515, I usually make it near Tokyo; personally I make it a ward or a prefecture, similar to Minato-ku in Sailor Moon (except Minato-ku is a real ward; Domino is not, afaik, even though the kanji Takahashi used for it could very well be in a real name... I just doubt they'd normally be pronounced "Domino ( ... )

I always assumed it was a stand-in for Tokyo and as such, was placed where Tokyo is.
