[Every night, Byakuya has one joy - and that's taking a nice long bath after his walk. [Responding to the sudden spike in Byakuya's reiatsu, Renji bursts through the door of the bathhouse with Zabimaru drawn, shouting for his Captain.]

[Suddenly, out from the water comes a White Lightning kidou attack, hitting the assassin straight in the chest. Byakuya doesn't really hear Renji, but after a while he bursts through the water trying to get some air.

[On seeing the intruder struck down, Renji comes to an abrupt halt, mind racing as he tries to process the scene. A Captain of the Gotei 13, attacked in a bathhouse? What the hell is going on?

When Byakuya appears from the water, all he can do is gape, dumbfounded, before he realizes it's probably not polite to stare at your Captain naked and looks away hurriedly.

[Renji's deliberately looking anywhere but his Captain, choosing to focus instead on the would-be assassin lying unmoving on the floor. When Byakuya reaches towards him, Renji flinches reflexively, head snapping back to gawk at his Captain, until he realizes Byakuya is looking for the robe behind him.]

Huh? Oh. Right. Sorry.

[Grabbing the robe, he passes it over quickly, practically throwing it at Byakuya in his hurry, before he averts his eyes again.]

So, uh...why d'you think that guy attacked you? Who'd want you dead?
