(no subject)

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why? I would like to work in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. I'd get to be involved with a lot of things. It's the department that has all the magic reversal and excuse making in it. It seems like it would involve a lot of getting out of bed in the middle of the night and running off to solve problems, which is fun. I think I'd be good at it. I like to handle situations.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why? I would teach Transfiguration because it's a fascinating concept, being able to turn one thing into something totally different. Teaching it also implies mastery of the subject and that means I'd never miss when I decided to turn the large spider in the corner into a harmless button. It would be so useful!

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not? Nope. It's one thing to do things like take on dragons when
something is at stake (in which case, some things just have to be done), but just for a competition? That's not me. I am somewhat competitive, but too many people DIE in this thing.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why? The first thing that comes to mind is a polar bear. Nothing messes with polar bears. Also, I like the cold and snow. Admittedly, it would be really difficult to sneak around in public, though. Maybe I should rethink that. Polar bear is my answer to "what animal would you like to be," but this isn't really that question. I would choose to be a dog. Dogs are common enough to be able to walk around in public and could easily travel with people. I get along very well with dogs. I can scratch my head with my foot already!

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why? Oh my, many of them. I am a terribly afraid of spiders like Ron, but overall, I have to say Hermione. I have some lazy friends who I know are smart people and I used to spend a lot of time forcing them to work and helping them. I put my all into school. She also has a point with SPEW, we need reforms when it comes to house elves and a lot of other beings. Equality is very important and it seems like things like that get overlooked when there are bigger problems to worry about. I believe humanity should tackle all the problems there are to tackle, instead of letting the "smaller" ones become forgotten with no real solutions.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised? My friends and I in the future, happy. My dog living as long as I do. The Harry Potter fandom going on forever. The Shoebox Project published as canon.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it? I'd put some in savings, contribute to causes that I value, such as some animal rescue organizations, conservation efforts, and the Make Trade Fair campaign. I'd put one of my friends through therapy because I promised I would. I'm also rather likely to blow some of it on old Apple computers and perhaps a few newer ones.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now? I have wanted to be many things. First, a baker and later, a paleontologist, an artist, a writer, and a scientist. I went back to writer in 8th grade and I'm sticking with it. I'm not confident that it will happen, but I'll always BE a writer even if I can't make a career out of it. Everything that happens to me, I narrate in my head, trying to come up with the best way to say it if I had some paper at that exact second. When I have an idea, I get twitchy. I'll write on anything and I'm the sort of person who is really bothered by a lack of horizontal surfaces, in case I need something to serve as a desk.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it? Watch this one already exist and me have to hide from the fandom forever. I would invent a spell which would block out all the sound around you. It would be so useful in public situations like study halls and transportation systems. There are just so many conversations I have overheard that I really wish I hadn't. I suppose the danger is that you could miss hearing something important, but it sounds nice in theory. I would call it...umm...silentium?

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus? It would either be a really large tarantula (or a swarm of them) or that eyes-in-hands monster from Pan's Labyrinth. Tarantulas makes me want to die a little, so I can't really make them funny. Riddikulus would have to turn them into, say little sheets of paper with bad puns on them. I do love bad puns. Mr. Eyes-in-Hands Monster could become really funny if I could get a large can of mace to appear out of the air and spray him in the eyes, which are, oddly enough, in his hands. So then he couldn't see and he'd be flailing because his hands would hurt as well. Wow, that would actually be funny.

  • What do you look for in a friend? Someone who has things in common with me as far as likes and dislikes are concerned and has the same sense of humor in general. I like people that appreciate sarcasm and inside jokes. My best friends are the people who have a lot of enthusiasm for the same little things in life that I do. I like people who are reasonable. I also prefer people with respect for technology.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people? I am really annoyed by people who do not read signs. By that I mean, that I frequently run into people who will stand in front of something (an animal at a zoo, an object at a museum, etc.) and announce to their spouse, children, or just other patrons a bunch of vague, untrue statements about whatever they are seeing. I've seen people stand in front of signs at zoos and make up their own name for the animals. Why don't they just read the sign? I don't understand.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities? 1. I have a strong work ethic. I get things done and I usually get other people to get things done. 2. I seem to get computers to do what I want them to even when I really don't know what I'm doing...perhaps they like me? 3. I'm really good with dogs, I seem to be able to get them to calm down and pay attention, things like that. 4. I can write. I don't mean I'm off writing the next great novel or anything, just that writing things for school or otherwise has never been hard for me and I like doing it. 5. I am good at explaining things.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities? 1. I am terrible at having phone conversations. 2. I have an inability to learn foreign languages. Three years of French almost killed me. I just can't seem to absorb it. 3. I could not learn calculus. It just wasn't happening. Never mind, higher levels of math, just never mind. 4. I avoid conflict at almost all costs. 5. Beyond things I'm interested in, I really hate talking about myself. I don't like to share, which I'm listing as a worst quality, because it seems to make people feel like they don't know me very well or something.
