There are many possible hikes, several of which aren't as steep, many more flowers yet to bloom this season, and lots of trails along wide fire roads, where the poison oak cannot come out to play, but stays nicely in its own terrain.
I don't like hiking in major foliage/park areas past February because of my severe hay fever -- and I don't like hiking the east bay in the summer (through October) because it's too hot. And I don't like hiking in the rainy season for some fairly obvious reasons. :)
