It was with good timing, given my recent nostalgia for Portland (home of many microbreweries, and thus home to the first theater-pubs I know of), that last night found me at one of the Speakeasy Theaters. (My apologies to rhiannonstone for going without her, but having been to one, I still want to check out the other, so our plan is still in motion!)What else ( Read more... )

;.) Glad you had a good time.

Those speakeasies look like fun! What kind of foods do they offer?

Nothing very complex or exciting - a few sandwiches, a few salads, some appetizers. Maybe 2 dozen items all told, plus a selection of beer and sodas. But the food was tasty enough, and it is a fun way to spend an evening.

;)

note to self: if you, for some reason, end up taking off your glasses... do not try to place them on the dash and then decide you'll find them later when they slide off onto the floor. The resulting search can take longer than the events for which you removed them.

No worries, I don't feel betrayed. ;) I am looking forward to checking out the Parkway or the EC though! As far as I can tell, they seem to solve almost the two things I hate about going to the movies--uncomfortable seats and crappy food. And they always have such cool events going on! There's a Buffy sing-a-long in April I'm excited about.

Sounds like a great date! Did he flinch at the wet-rope torture scene? I did, and I'm not a guy.

BTW, Buffy sing-a-long sounds great. I assume it's "Once More, with Feeling"? Joss Whedon is genius.

I was so busy flinching at the torture scene, I have no idea if he did or not. It'd be like trying to tell if there was a minor temblor while you're in the middle of an grand-mal seizure. I hate torture scenes.
