Is actually not that ouchies, uncomfortable but mainly the itchies...

While you wait to see the doctor, try pricky heat powder (basically a starch powder with aspirin in it, from your pharmacy) for the hives. Obviously, they aren't prickly heat, but it might help with the itching.
