People who shriek that it's "Merry Christmas" not "Happy Holidays" make me sick. Not only is being bigoted towards other religions a great way to spread Christian love and brotherhood, but apparently, these people seem to forget that New Years Day is a week later. Seems like some people need to learn some history and learn about pagan winter solstice celebrations (i.e. where caroling, yule logs, and Xmas trees originated from). The Christian stuff was just tacked on to that. So really, if these people were truly trying to be historically accurate, they'd be talking about taking the Christ *out* of Christmas!

I agree with you.

My sister was talking about how her high school could get in trouble for having a star on top of their Christmas tree. She went on about how it is a Christian holiday, and people should get over it. Seriously? Without pagans, there would be no Christmas trees!

I guess I shouldn't hold it against her too much, since she's only 16, but it makes me wonder what she's being taught in general because I already knew that by the time I was her age.

I'm a Satanist, so I don't care about Jesus or anything of the sort, but the more I hear about being friendly and inclusive TO ALL, the more I feel like yelling from rooftops about being full of Christ love. It is in my nature to be full of spite though ( ... )

The way I see it, if people are dead set on announcing that this is a religious season, they can't deny that other religions/cultures celebrate major holidays at the same time of year. If someone, like you, likes the materialistic element, that changes thing because it's not the same thing as those idiots who place emphasis on one religious holiday and then sit around enraged at the Godless because they don't buy into the same doctrine ( ... )
