Also, I can't remember who said it or where but some people use their religion (not just Christians) as a way of feeling superior to others. It makes them "right" and "better" and "priviledged". I swear the Heavens must be shedding tears over this. I can't think of anything more anethema to any religion on earth than that attitude.
The ironic thing is that some of the same wacko far rightists who use religion to feel all superior *here* are the same guys who don't understand the *exact same* sentiment when expressed by a Muslim in a middle eastern country. *lol*
They don't even see that it's the same mentality - just different religions.
Sadly, more and more often, the result of any sort of zealous religious fundamentalism is is the same - unnecessary violence and killing combined with a feeling of moral superiority which serves to justify said unnecessary violence in the minds of these 'true believers'. The Muslim extremists did it with 9/11...and the Christian extremists are doing it with Iraq.
And both claim that God is on their side.
Personally, I think they are *both* in for a rude awakening. *lol*
