All the tropical watches and warnings have been cancelled but the weather folks are still waving their hands at the radar. It does indeed look threatening to the east but we have yet to see any wet weather. It's a bit breezy but that's kinda nice actually--cool even.

The Powers That Be have landed with both feet firmly in the land of over reaction and decided to close tomorrow. So after doing the batten the hatches thing at the Tampa facility in the morning, I'm off for the day except for the radio. Think of it as snow day, Florida style. The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Watch for the West Coast of Florida from Anna Maria Island south to the Keys. Anna Maria sits just below the mouth of Tampa Bay. Neither Pinellas nor Hillsborough County are included in the current watch, but I expect they will be by this evening. Oh goodie ( Read more... )

I just got back from a three day business trip to Miami. I flew back on a Beechcraft 1900 Turboprop. The plane could seat 19--there were 5 of us on the flight. You know you're on a small plane when you can pictures out of the windows on either side without leaving your seat. The approach into Tampa was fweakin awesome. I hope I get to do it ( Read more... )
