To celebrate the upcoming release The Lost Hero and the start of the new Heroes of Olympus series, pjo_fic_battle is deviating from its usual prompt battle form to host a drabble meme!
"You okay, Piper?" Annabeth says, extending her hand to help Piper off the ground.
Piper glowers, turning her gaze from the older girl's hand toward the blonde boy high-fiving Percy Jackson on the other side of the battle arena. Feeling her eyes glaring holes in the middle of his back, Jason turns and gives her a smug thumbs up. Ass.
"I'm fine," Piper replies, even if it's not completely true, and ignores Annabeth's hand as she gets to her feet. She brushes her dusty and bleeding palms on her jeans and hobbles over to her bench to pick up her water bottle. "Just wounded my pride, that's all."
Annabeth follows her silently, her grey flickering over to the boys on the other side. Her gaze narrows as Percy sticks his tongue out at her, and when she turns back to Piper, her mouth is set in a thin line. Vaguely, Piper wonders if Annabeth's ashamed that she got stuck mentoring such a loser and her cheeks flush with color as she stares at her feet.
"First rule of Camp Half-Blood," Annabeth says suddenly, "Demigod boys are big-headed

This is awesome!!! I can't stop squeeing and giggling like the crazy Annabeth fangirl I am. I want to see a scene like this in the books so badly it hurts. Hopefully, since the narrator voice isn't Percy anymore we'll get to see some girl bonding time :) Like Mark at MRHP would say: I love you forever until the end of recorded time.

"I'm going to peel your spleen and drink the juice from your eyeballs, half-blood," the woman answered, secondary set of eyelids fluttering.
"Great!" Annabeth answered, folding up the harpy's receipt and handing it to her. "Here's a quick survey you can take online, if you want to tell us how our service was today. Your order number is here, I've circled it, your feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks, have a nice day!"
The harpy summarily dismissed -- they weren't the brightest monsters, really; she'd gone for her daggers the first time one walked through the check-out, but it wasn't even worth note anymore -- she turned to Clarisse. "Do you remember that scare we had about, like, two months ago, when Freya went missing and everybody thought she was dead?"
"Yeah," went Clarisse, dragging the word out questioningly. "Malcolm went ballistic. He thought they were true love or whatever. It was like a damn Lifetime movie when they got reunited

Annabeth + Sally, "I'm not going to lose him, too."avid_reader1029October 10 2010, 00:42:42 UTC
It was quiet in the apartment. Percy had swim team practice after school today, but Annabeth liked Percy's mom, and didn't mind waiting at his place for him. It had been a while since they were able to catch up

Aw, why wouldn't I like it? :) It was different from what I had in mind, but I still love it; it's definitely an interesting take on Sally's relationship with Annabeth that I don't think a lot of people consider, so.

Is there a deadline for this, or is it just an open ended, we'll let it die off when it dies off kind of thing?
