I don't actually, at least not under those names; Laura might. That would be very nice once we've actually moved.

I should sign up to Edinbughers on LJ, Laura made a few friends that way. I'm optimistic about being able to find friends in Edinburgh, although the one thing you can't make quickly is old friends.

This is excellent news! I agree that Edinburgh is a great place, and hopefully we will get up to visit you there.

That one in Broxburn looks stunning, if the village location suits!

:) It's a bit of an impractical option unless we wanted a family of 7 or to run a hotel, but it's fun to pull out of the property listings. Broxburn is under consideration; it's roughly the same range from the centre of town as St Ives or Ely or Newmarket from Cambridge, so a bit far to go to the pub of an evening. But it's definitely a nice village area.

More realistic would be South Queensferry; closer, railway station, nice little seaside village with a view of the Forth bridge.

Very exciting!
I hope the job stuff works out well and you find one that suits you where you get on well with the team.
Moving house is hard, but you can pay men to make it easier, the legal stuff the lawyers do, and house shopping is fun :-) I wouldn't let that worry you too much.

It'd be nice to see you both before you move though!

Good luck with the job stuff.

Moving> what I have found works:
- Declutter as much and as soon as possible
- Pay someone to pack the boxes. This is far more stressful than you think and in terms of total moving cost is not that expensive.

That is such an appropriate icon for how I feel about this.

I'll almost certainly get professional movers for the furniture and the 400 mile drive, but I feel that I'd want to pack fragile things, personal items, books and computers myself, which is most of the contents of the house.

Declutter is definitely looming..

The advantage of them packing fragile things is they're then insured against breakage - which they may not be If you pack them yourself... And the advantage of them packing books is that they know just how heavy they can lift ;) but I do know what you mean.
