I found a long time ago that rarely do facts get completely talked about...from a military perspective, nato is largely the United states, but the political forces that lead to "nato" have passed away a long time ago.
The complex sociopolitical realities of the last 100 years history doesn't get touched on much any more. People are more interested in lables and nice tidy plots than complex "facts."
