Just a quick update on my life since I haven't been posting as much...

1) Today, I colored my hair. It's a vivid, bright, true red. It's almost too much, but I know it'll fade. It's hair. That's what it does.

2) A couple months ago, on a whim, I submitted an already written piece for Chicken Soup for the Soul. I didn't think I'd get in, but figured ( Read more... )

It's good to hear so many things are working out. Can you get some curtains for the window to block some of the sun?

Maybe in a month or two, but right now money is tight. All the moving expenses and whatnot hit us hard this month. But it's something we may do once we can :)

I was going to suggest the same thing about the curtains, but I understand with the expense. When I lived in a student house, one of the others had the same problem in his room, and so he painted some cardboard all different colours, and cut it to fit the window and blocked out the light that way. But... that's pretty much the sort of thing you do when you're a student :D I'm not sure if it's really your cup of tea!

It's really good to hear from you. I'm glad things are going well. Congratulations on getting into Chicken Soup! And good luck for all your projects :)

I was thinking aluminum foil, but painted cardboard sounds much nicer!

Yay good things! I was also going to comment about the window. I think a sun-shade can be made pretty easily, to be put up during the worst part of the day. I like the idea of painted cardboard, actually. It doesn't have to look tacky :) You can also hang a blanket in front of the window - easily done if there are curtain rods already up. If no rods, I'm sure you guys can rig something, even if it's just a couple of nails tacking the blanket/sheet up for a few hours a day.
Glad to see you back around here! You & Kevin are always bright spots on my friend feed, and I miss seeing your posts.

It sounds like things are going so well! I'm really happy for you! I'm curious about the Plab B, though :) In your own time, of course!

And also awesome that you're getting paid for your writing! That has to feel good!!
