Just a quick update on my life since I haven't been posting as much...
1) Today, I colored my hair. It's a vivid, bright, true red. It's almost too much, but I know it'll fade. It's hair. That's what it does.
2) A couple months ago, on a whim, I submitted an already written piece for Chicken Soup for the Soul. I didn't think I'd get in, but figured why not? I made it to the final round and according to them, very likely to be in the book. And I'll be paid $200. I'll be published in a national anthology. How cool is that???
3) I did a few freelancing gigs and they loved my work. I made almost $400 doing simple, fun assignments. It screws with my unemployment so I've laid off it for the meantime, but good to know the money is there to make once I'm off unemployment.
4) About that... I finally got back into therapy and my therapist actually has other plans for what I'll do when the unemployment runs out... It's scary, but I like it. I don't want to talk about it here because of all the naysayers. So for now, it's between Kevin, my therapist and me. I'm still applying to jobs like crazy... And I'm applying to jobs I should get called about. But my firing and only being at that job for four months screws me out of most of them. So if nothing comes through... Plan B.
4) My book of shorts is almost finished. I have another book of shorts almost ready to put out too. And a novella and then I'll edit my novel. I had an agent request my full MS of another novel that's not finished (she found it on Twitter, I didn't send her anything while being unprepared. I'm smarter than that). Oh and I started a super seekrit project that I'm very excited about.
5) The apartment is nice. It gets really hot in the late afternoon/early evening because the sun shines right in our living room window. It's almost unbearable. We try not to use A/C to save money, so instead we go to the dog park during those hours. It's cooler outside than it is in here. I'm dying right now.
6) I signed my first author to Fey Publishing. He's someone I met through marketing the company and not someone I knew of before he found us. We've become friends because he's such a nice guy though. I'm also formatting the first anthology, sending emails about the next one. I'm keeping busy but it's all things I love to do. I could format books all day and be happier than sitting in an office for 8 hours. I usually work into the night while Kevin watches TV. It's all work I want to be doing though so I don't mind :)
So yeah... Good things all around. I'll try to be on more now that we are getting settled in. I've missed you guys :)
