No "Can't" Allowed

At the beginning of the high school art class I teach, I had a lot of students complaining. "But I can't draw!" they whined. Therefore, I promptly disallowed the word "can't" in class. Now that we're a number of weeks into the class, the students who decided to stick with it and do the exercises are finally beginning to understand why ( Read more... )

I wish I had time to find a drawing teacher or just to spend enough time working on it go from "I can draw sometimes if everything goes perfectly" to "I can draw"

But I can climb up and down a five-story tower ten times in a row in full turnout gear. That's another thing I never could say I knew I could do before. :)
