Off the top of my head, Ferris and Julian Laurince were abducted be aliens, and Leeta Laurince was a Mad Scientist (Leeta's Julian's part-alien grandchild, if that matters.)

Erik Deline was also abducted by aliens.

I probably have had more scientists and medical peeps, but nothing immediately popped into my head.

May I volunteer some of my BaCC sims? Flavia Bratiano is a mean roboticist with the Capp family on her ass, and Sai Freitel got kicked out of Academie Le Tour's med school due to a mental breakdown (and questionable ethics, but that's on the side), which didn't stop him from setting up practice later.
