I'm relatively new to the area and I need to open a new checking account as my bank doesn't have a local branch.

Can anyone tell me about their experiences (good or bad) with local banks? I like to be able to track my finances online too, so if you use those types of services, info on that would also be appreciated.

I'm moving to Pittsburgh this summer for graduate school and am deciding on a bank. In the past, I've had better luck with smaller banks than with Bank America (or whichever local bank is gunning to become the local Bank America branch), so that's what I'm looking for. i hate national city bank. i went there to cash a check that was a wedding gift and they told me that since it was made out to both my husband and i...that he had to sign it. i have never heard of that before. it's just this one branch in olympia shopping center. my husband isn't on my account and doesn't have an account there. i was so pissed ( Read more... )
