Grilling in public parks?

Hello fellow Pittsburghers--

Thought I'd ask here: does anyone know where you can find a good ol' fashioned, first-come-first-serve, public park charcoal grill around here? You know, the kind that you see in campgrounds and parks pavilions and such? I know that many of the city's public park pavilions are equipped with them, but you have to buy a ( Read more... )

If no one else comes up with anything, there are two further up rt 28 that I don't think you have to have permits for. Harrison Hills park in Natrona Heights or Memorial park over in New Ken/Lower Burrell.

The Millvale Riverfront Park has a pavillion that you need to rent to use its grills, BUT there is a small gazebo with a charcoal grill just down the trail from the pavillion that my friends and I used one day a few years ago to have a picnic and we didn't have to reserve it. I'm not 100% sure if that one is also first-come, first-served, but if you call the Millvale borough office (412-821-2777 x11, M-F 8-4:30) you can find out for sure.
