I'd say it was probably just because they were terrible. I was only there once -- party of four, Monday evening, only customers in the place, and the service was terrible, the ambiance was terrible (I think they had sports playing over the radio, which is fine at some places but seemed out of place there), they messed up our order (someone ordered a burger NO CHEESE, it had cheese when they brought it out, and instead of recooking a new burger they look it back and just scraped off the cheese/I ordered a salad that claimed to have goat cheese, but actually had mozzarella on it instead), and the food itself was very mediocre.

At any rate, it was probably one of the worst restaurants I've been to, so very not surprised at its closing.

I went once and enjoyed my food/had good service, but I know someone who worked there and he said it was run very badly. He and many other servers quit. They probably ran out of both money and employees.

Yeah... my experiences were similar. The last time we went there, we walked in and were only customers in the place. Waited around for some time, finally got seated. We attempt to order, but the server informs us they're out of X, Y & Z. We place order for W & V. What arrives, more than 30 minutes later is T & U. I elected to just eat what they brought, but the my wife was like, 'Hey server, this isn't what I ordered.' The server returns to tell us that they don't actually have the ingredients on hand to make what she ordered. Of what's left on the menu that they can actually make, she's not able to find anything she can eat, and so we simply send it back and she drinks a beer. The bill comes and the T is still on the check. Server exhibits outward frustration, and even puts up a bit of a fight about taking it off the bill, but eventually we win. ("We didn't order it; We didn't eat it! How is this up for debate?!") That was the last straw for us ( ... )

I don't think it was a front. From my experience with the owner (in a business setting) he seemed to think his ideas and enthusiasm for succeeding would alone run the restaurant. No follow through.

Yeah, that seems to compute. I mean when they first opened, they were getting decent reviews and had decent crowds, followed by a swift descent into epic fail. I can see how high hopes and limited follow through could produce such and outcome. Too bad, really.
