Pitt Library School

Hello all! I was just accepted into Pitt's Library School, and now I'm trying to decide on if I should go to school full-time (which would be 12 credits/4 classes) or half-time (6 credits/2 classes). I work full-time (in a Library! So I would be able to do school work in my downtime and if my other work is completed). I will be going through the ( Read more... )

For what it's worth, I went through the program Full-time, and felt it was a little rushed. If I could go back, I think I would've gone part-time, and probably would've been better-served by the contacts that are established through a less hectic pace.

I worked in Interlibrary Loan while taking classes, and didn't have much of a difficulty. But, my boss was also getting his MLIS, so we spent a fair bit of time discussing our studies while working.

As for meeting with my groups, it was hit-or-miss; while most people were pretty conscientious (mostly the ones that were working as well), others just blew them off, to the consternation of the rest of us.

And if you can avoid taking classes with Maggie Kimmel, if she's still teaching, I'd do so. A number of us did not have a good experience with that professor.
