At least frozen garbage won't stink.

FYI:

According to The Department of Public Safety Snowstorm Emergency Page, "Garbage and recycling pickup has been suspended until further notice."

Is this for everywhere? My neighbors all put out their trash cans last night (carefully balanced on the 3 ft high snowdrifts), and I'm pretty sure no one is coming to pick it up.

Unfortunately, the sentence that I quoted is the sum total of all of the information that they give.

What I want to know is this: Didn't we used to do double duty by putting plow blades on garbage trucks? And, if so, wouldn't now be a super awesome time to start doing that again?

I wish they could stick some plows on the front of the National Guard humvees, that seems like it would be effective.

I do know that no trash in my neighborhood has yet been picked up.

That would be creative. We don't do creative here.

Well, this is refreshing. While digging out my car, I accidentally buried the can. ROFL It'll buy me a week to find it.

Mine is buried in snow on the side of my house so even if they were doing pickup this week, I don't think I'd make the effort to find it.

From bethelpark.net

Due to limited access through Municipal streets and in preparation for consequences of another snow storm which is predicted to arrive Tuesday, February 9th, all garbage and recycling collection is cancelled for the entire week of February 8th. Weather permitting, collection will resume on Monday, February 15th (Presidents Day) and shall maintain the established schedule. Any garbage or recycling placed at the curb must be removed.

The dump undoubtedly is pretty full - of snow. So it's not just inability to pick our up, it's where to put it once they have it.
