Yeah, I work downtown at an apartment building night shift, and we got that memo. They did the same thing last Super Bowl, and doncha know I can't remember what route I took to work that night after the game. :)

those are all intersections, so which are closed- the side streets or the big streets?

If you look at the southside, for example, you can see that the closings go from East Carson and 10th through 28th. So east carson will be closed all along that path and the side street won't be letting any traffic through at that intersection.

Except if you actually live here. They can't barricade you out of your own neighborhood. After SuperBowl XL, I drove from the party where I watched it in S'quill over to the SouthSide, rolled down my window and showed my ID to the officer manning the barricades, and he let me in. Searching for parking is easy when there are no cars anywhere.

Yet another reason to keep your address updated with the DMV, too.

The intersections are closed, and if you look on the map those intersections are entry points to areas - all the downtown ones effectively block off the downtown area. (Sorry, dahntahn. :D )

Awesome. Looks like I will be working from home on Sunday since I can't get to my office w/o tons of trouble. Meh. Stoopid football.

(Actually I was the same way before I married a football fan and was forced into it, it's cool. :D )

Hah, this also happened to me. It's awful and sad, but I didn't even know who the Pittsburgh Steelers were until my fiance and I started dating. He considered me a good luck charm, though - that's the year they won one for the thumb!

(In my defense, my father, from upstate New York, was a diehard Bills fan. After so many repeated Super Bowl losses, my mother tended to herd the kids away from the TV anytime football came on because, naturally, my father was not a happy man when the game was on. It's also how I learned most English swear words.)

Awesome! We have the same story, except I'm the nutball lifelong Steelers fan and my husband was the good luck charm in '06. ;)

The press release we got at work said the police will start putting up barriers at the start of the 4th quarter, or about 9pm.

Oh! That's helpful. I may be able to spend some time at work after all.

So... will there be alternate bus routes? I have to work that night and I refuse to take my car in because of what happened last time, so I have to take the bus home.
