It's got my name and address and apartment number. I was too pissed off earlier when it happened (long day, and I'm dealing with this while having really super-dilated pupils 'cause I went to the eye doctor today, which means I'm half-blind for the next few hours) so I didn't investigate it much further than to make sure it wasn't posted on the wrong apartment by mistake.
I had something similar happen to me last summer... except, the shut-off was _supposed_ to be for the person in the apartment ABOVE me... It was a weekend so it took 3 days to get everything sorted out.
Huh. So maybe it's for one of my neighbours? But it has my name and apartment number on it...
Edit: Just got off the phone with Duquesne Light. BAH HAH HAH! It turns out that it's partly the same thing that happened to you, in that the shut-off was pretty much meant for someone else, but it also turns out that the electrical wiring in my building is messed up and there's people paying other apartments' bills because of this. Way to go, electricians! So... They're trying to fix it, but what a pain in the ass!
I mean, I don't need power in my room anyway because I sleep with the lights off and I'm sure this will be sorted out in the morning, but thank you for the offer!
Their service sucks--when I was growing up, the power was out constantly. One little raindrop was all it took. Oddly enough, I moved about 2 blocks away, and the power's been off...once?
Argh, without power in my bedroom I have no internet access because that's where my router's set up, so I had to jury-rig an extension cord from my kitchen so I could finish getting my homework done.
Duquesne Light owns me for this. I swear, if they try to make me pay the $50 reconnection fee, I'm calling the Better Business Bureau before I even start explaining to them all the reasons I am not going to pay them.
