Hi, I'm the newbie who posted this entry about my traveling to Pittsburgh this weekend. Thanks to everyone who responded, all the info was really helpful

if I remember correctly, this hotel is basically the only thing on that particular exit of the parkway.
it's not exactly "close" to any neighborhood...good, bad, or 'other'. :-) i'm talking at least a 5 minute walk to the nearest house-type-dwelling. it is very near a shiny office building with lots of glass.
when you hop back on the parkway, the next exit is Carnegie (proper)...it has some not so nice bits to it, but overall it's not a terrible neighborhood. there are a couple smaller restaurants (pizza joints, etc.) and gas station/convenience store things on the main street.
another 5 minutes up the parkway is Greentree (very near where i live), which has a bigger selection of food options within a couple minute radius of the parkway exits. (olive garden, boston market, etc.)
another 7 or so minutes and you're at the fort pitt tunnels, and into the city proper.
I live about 2 seconds away from that hotel! Its in an are known as Rosslyn Heights, which is a very safe area. You are mostly just right near office buildings, and literally right off of the Parkway.
They used to have some problems with that hotel back in the day, but Ive not heard a bad thing about it in years.
I also live near the hotel. The only thing dangerous might be the deer running when my dog chases them. Oh, and the fricking enormous potholes on the ramp to/from the parkway. I walk my dog up there at night and never have a problem. It's a nice neighborhood.
I've had a lot of friends and out of town co-workers who have stayed there. They have all said that it's your basic hotel -- no major frills or anything, but inexpensive, clean and decent service.
Carnegie/Roslyn Farms area is very safe -- you won't have any problems there.
There's a lot of decent restaurants in Carnegie -- Talotta's and Papa J's are the first to come to mind. Most of the bars are dives, but Paddy's Pour House is great -- good Irish food and great brews if that's of interest.
There's also a ton of restaurants and shopping in nearby Robinson (about 5 minutes back towards the airport from the parkway exit.)
I have stayed in extended stays in many other states and they were exellent.affordable, clean and usually are have kitchens wich is really awesome.I mean real half to full size kitchens depending on the hotel.I love staying their. But alas I live here so cannot say anything about this specific one
