Started talking with an old friend on facebook a couple of weeks ago and I'm having mixed emotions about the whole thing. The old friend also happens to be the ex. Is there a significant age difference between you two? It was good to talk -- at least you know where he stands now, but he might change his mind. At least he does want kids.

There is 3 years between us. I just think he thinks he's not financially ready to have kids. Who is these days?

Guys always seem to think about when they can afford kids before they feel ready to have them, but yeah...I don't think most people will feel like they can afford kids.

Collin is the COMPLETE opposite... he doesn't think he can afford MARRIAGE but he's like "BRING IT ON!" when we talk about kids! SO strange!

I think it was better that you found out now how he feels about the whole KIDS idea... it gives you MORE time to explain YOUR stance on it... he needs to know how YOU feel too!

I am sure if you are open and honest with him, and if he really wants to be with you, he'll reconsdier his initial reaction to the subject.

I think you know my thoughts pretty much. I waited until we owned our house and owned the car, there was no way I was going to be a renting, bus riding mom. But that's me. AS for being 'ready' it takes more than finances. If he's not ready emotionally to take full care of a child then it's great that you know that. He was honest and it could be alot worse if something were to happen and then find out after he wasn't ready.
