I think you've got John Winchester's personality and actions absolutely right. And DJ is a complete darling, but such a babe in the woods I can't help but worry for him.
Thanks for carrying on with this.

Wow, I really appreciate that! He does balance on the edge between complete hardass, loving Daddy, and angry Mama bear!

I wish I could say that your worry is for nought . . . but I can't. *evil laugh*
Thanks for carrying on with this.
I am so grateful to you for continuing to read and taking the time to comment! Thank you!

Please say that there is more or will be soon as I want to find out not only what is going to happen to DJ but the poor soul's back story.
As for the scene in the bathroom - didn't expect that, though it is very well written.

There is more, but I can't promise how soon. Sorry!

Thank you very much! I wanted to suggest what sort of dangers are out there for slaves.

As for the dangers slaves have to live with - it sounds a scary world that DJ lives in, going one minute convinced his master is going to make him do things to the point where strangers can attack him with impunity. It's a surprise that any slave is sane.

I'm sorry! I just became a "Mom" to my 14 year old niece, and that may eat up some time! *LOL*

Well, in my world, slaves owned by the rich are relatively safe, except from their master's and mistresses themselves. Either the are kept isolated, only there to do their job, as Dean was with Lord Gilmore, or they travel always with their Masters/Mistresses, especially in the case of bodyslaves. Two things led to what happened to Dean in the bathroom. First< John isn't a slave owner, knows nothing about slaves, he should have accompanied a young, inexperienced slave like Dean into someplace like a public bathroom. Second, Dean was dressed in new clothes, but they were from a ( ... )

I can't wait for Sam and Dean's reaction to 1. their father becoming a slave owner (Sam will be so angry with John!) and 2. having a little brother all of a sudden!
My favourite line in this was "He grabbed the filthy hand that had touched his son...". Already John is thinking of and reacting to D.J. as his child!

I hope Sam and Dean's reactions are all you hope thay will be!

I am SO glad you caught that you clever little one! Yes, as far as John is concerned, D.J. is his child. There is already a deep attachment formed that John himself isn't even completely aware of.

I'm a huge fan of the Kept!Verse and this an intriguing and new take on it.
The simple fact of John being a Hunter and his illegal lifestyle have huge implications with regards to DJ. He's even more at risk than an ordinary slave of being removed from his owner or abused and John had better wise up to that fact fast before something awful happens to his boy.
I'm really looking froward to seeing where you take this story and how the relationships evolve, especially when Dean and Sam meet DJ.
Also, I can't wait to see how or if John has the 'talk' with DJ about him possibly being his son- the potential for h/c and angst is enormous and I can't see how they can resolve things between them short of John freeing DJ, if that is even possible.
I hope that you find the time to continue this story, it's a little gem and I'd love to know how it ends.
Great job!

It's inspired by but not within the Kept!Verse as poisontaster has said that there are no fictional people within that world. So some of the answers to your questions might be different than you think.
Once a slave has become the property of the Remands Division, it really costs more to feed and house them than they'll ever get back by selling them. So they don't waste too much money keeping track of them. However, if someone reports a case of slave abuse, then they are obligated to check it out and take any necessary steps. Finding John however might be a problem.
I know the meeting Sam and Dean scene had better be awesome! *LOL*
I don't know yet how DJ will come to find out that he is John's biological son, but it isn't possible to free a slave, so any issues will have to be worked out between them as they are now, father and son, master and slave.
I am trying to find tiome to continue it, but I'm not doing very well!
