i think the quality and the general praise of the new Battlestar Galactica has got people re-thinking dramatic, people-driven sci-fi on TV...

Truthfully, I'd say the best example, and the most well known to the general populus, would have to be "LOST". A character drama with Sci-Fi firlmy set in the background. Battlestar has the sci-fi much too up front and center for the general population to latch onto and accept it. We'll see if the "LOST" formula works this season since NBC is debuting "Heroes" and CBS has "Jericho". Hopefully they can pick up the ball where NBC's "Surface" and CBS's "Threshold" dropped the ball last season.
