I have been told - tho I don't know if it is true - that Oregon law states that a bicycle can be on the sidewalk as long as they aren't going faster than a pedestrian. I don't think it's unreasonable either.

it varies from city to city. In Eugene, you're allowed to ride on the sidewalk if there are no bike lanes, with the exception of a few streets downtown. In my hometown of Cottage Grove, there are no bikes allowed on the sidewalk at all ever, which sucks ASS because there are very few bike lanes.

Ok, good to know. I know I've ridden my bike on sidewalks when there are no bike lanes.
