Toddler tantrums are understandable, but you did the right thing -- taking him out of there! There are some parents who just let their babies scream their heads off for long periods of time, driving everyone crazy. I remember a woman pushed the stroller with the screaming baby into a corner of the library while she went to look at DVDs.
Yes, I hate mothers who ignore their children's fits! It's like, "he/she just has to get it out of her/his system, so I am not going to reward him/her by paying attention to the fit." And I'm like "Well, I don't see why we all should suffer. Take the kid outside!" Thanks, Pipu darling, for not being one of those moms.
And yes, I would love the pickle recipe. They look delicious!!
I don't get how people can do that... whenever Otto even starts a little fussing, if we're in a quiet space I get so anxious to calm him down or get out! I don't want to be disturbing others. I mean, it's one thing if you're on a bus or somewhere that you can't leave, but everywhere else, just go!
Yeah, there are people think that they world is their kid's jungle gym. I know one of the branches that has a lot of parents who feel that their kids have a *right* to run around and scream. They get really mad if anyone tells them otherwise. "My child is very lively and creative! This is supposed to be a welcoming place for children where they can *be* children!" A bit of fussing is actually fine in the children's library. But you know, there are occasions when it just gets out of control.
But worse than the screaming kids who won't let up are the squeaky shoes! One woman's toddler has squeakers on the soles of her shoes. Her toddler walks around the library and all you hear is squeak, squeak, squeak -- for hours. It drives me mad. Sometimes I have to ask people to take over my shift for a bit because the squeaking is so torturous I can feel myself getting more violent. Give me a tantrum over the squeaky shoes any day.
