First of all: Happy birthday to permetaform, and happy belated (eek! sorry!) birthday to river_boat! Whee! *snogs you both*

I haven't been online much in the past week, and it will probably stay that way for at least a little while longer, due to the new job and other stuff. My free time has been severly curtailed (as in, the entire day used to be free time, and now ( Read more... )

Hey -- speaking of Nashville -- I'm going to be in your neck of the woods in... good heavens, less than a month. We should hang out. I'll email you.

OMG SQUEE!!!!

Hell yes, we will hang out! I can't wait to see you. (Um, but your trip isn't the first weekend in April, is it? Because I'll be at a wedding in Charlotte then.)

Sorry the editing was a mislead, but, hey, it's work, right? And that's always good. :) Well, not always, but in this case.

So if you didn't live in Nashville, where do you think you'd live?

Um, I realize that comment doesn't sound as sympathetic and uplifting as I meant it to be. Sorry, long day at work. Let me start over -

I'm sorry the job sucks. Hopefully it will continue to get better and better, and you'll move on to even greener pastures when it's done.

Oh hey, it's okay! Actually you were totally right the first time - it IS a job, and that IS actually a good thing. I think the first couple days were just unusually rough because it wasn't quite what I was expecting. It should be much less sucky from now on. :) Not my perfect cup of tea, true, but still a good temporary work experience.

Thanks for the sympathy and, er, upliftyness.

Well, I really really like Chicago. Or at least what I saw of it in a grand total of three days spent there a couple years ago. (Not counting VVC, because we were in the hotel the whole time.) If I had to move right now, I'd move there.

I have lived in the South my whole life, and there are many things that I love about it and it will always be my home, but I am getting rather tired of, um, being surrounded by Republicans. Heh. I'd like to live in (a) a big city and (b) the North or Midwest, while I'm still young and liberal and independent.

Very sorry to hear the job isn't what you signed on for. In a word, that *sucks*.

But it sounds like you have plans to get the hell out of there. I'm sure better things await you.

Thanks for the support. I will indeed be getting the hell out, although the specific project they brought me in to do is actually starting to look interesting, so I won't mind staying until that's finished even though the company atmosphere is not the best. (Plus, income! whee!)

They didn't really misrepresent themselves at all; it was just a weird situation because they offered me the job (and I took it) after only a 15-minute phone interview. So I never really got the opportunity to evaluate the company and the position beforehand. If I had, I might not have taken it. (Although maybe I would have, because again: Income = Good.)

P.S. OMG I LOVE "ING" SO MUCH YAY. Love love love. And I will send you specific feedback this weekend, when I have time to gather all my thoughts and write them down. Anya! *sob*

Sounds like you've got a balanced attitude about the whole thing.

Thanks so much for your kind comments about "Ing"! I'm really glad you liked it.
