First of all: Happy birthday to permetaform, and happy belated (eek! sorry!) birthday to river_boat! Whee! *snogs you both*

I haven't been online much in the past week, and it will probably stay that way for at least a little while longer, due to the new job and other stuff. My free time has been severly curtailed (as in, the entire day used to be free time, and now it's down to 4 hours or less at the end of the day) and it will take a while for me to get used to that - so, very little (if any) LJ-reading for Pips in the meantime. (And of course my paid account chose next week to expire. Makes sense.) Anyway. If something big happens to you, or if something small happens to you, or something good or bad or exciting or frustrating or whatever - email me and tell me about it! Assuming I can figure out how to check my regular email at work. If anyone knows how to set up multiple email accounts in Lotus Notes, give me a holler.

As it turns out, the dream job is ... well, not so dreamy. I was incredibly miserable during my first day at work. I was only slightly less miserable on the second day. Today (the third day) I actually understood the task I was given and I enjoyed doing it, so it was much better. This is not a place I would want to work at full-time; partly because it's not an IT company, it's a manufacturing company with a small IT dept on the side, so there's not much room for growth or promotion; and partly because everyone here is at least 15 years older than me and I'm not knocking older people at all but I was kinda hoping to make some friends that were closer to my age, since I still don't really know anyone in this town. And also partly because I realized that I don't want to live in Nashville any more. But I don't mind working here as a temp on this one particular project (which should take 2-3 months).

The video editing thing was kind of a mislead. What they wanted was to take a bunch of training videos on their site, which are encoded in all kinds of different formats (avi, mov, mpeg, etc.), and convert them to streaming video instead of downloadable video. But that's only one part of a 30-part project, so. Not so much with the "vidding at work" thing. It's all right though - I'm enjoying the HTML coding and design (or at least I did today - tomorrow could be miserable again).

And lastly, because no LJ post is complete without period talk: I am very very late again. Last time it was 6 and a half weeks between periods. Now I'm approaching 7 weeks, and still no rag. WTF? I get that sometimes cycles get screwed up due to stress, which has been high lately, but then why the delay last month? Not that I'm complaining, mind you; 8 times a year instead of 12 is peachy keen with me. But the unpredictability is annoying. (EDIT: I am absolutely positively NOT pregnant. Hee.)
