Trickster on the Flash

So, what did people think of James Jesse aka Trickster on the Flash?

I was not happy at all. He was a terrorist who was basically Joker-lite.

the trickster, mark hamil, the flash (tv show), james jesse

That was pretty much his characterization on the previous live-action Flash show, so I wasn't too surprised. Mark Hamill was having fun chewing the scenery, and was delightful to watch. Whether or not they have he Rogues all in a team-up by the end of the season, I do hope he comes back as a character.

Also, the Eobard Thawne B-story was completely terrifying, and extremely interesting in terms of the season arc.

When I watched the promo for the episode, I told my spouse that I would probably skip the episode because he didn't want to hear my ranting. (I first came across the Trickster reading Blue Devil. I also dislike the 1990 Flash tv show, for reasons not including casting or music. Third, the Trickster Archtype is important to me from a cultural and personal standpoint, and people who 'don't get it' really drive me nuts.)

So instead of forcing my poor spouse to hear my ranting, I complained to some my comic book loving friends. They promptly told me to 'chill, dude', at least give the episode a chance, and pointed me in the direction of a review from gorogues on Tumblr (that I think was written by liabrown). Reading the review made me feel good enough to at least watch the episode, especially in light of katzedecimal's comment ( ... )

I agree. It just was not James, and I'm sorry for that.

I liked it, he was very much as his original Trickster. I definitely liked him more than the Piper we got.
Not sure about the new Trickster though, and the reveal that they were father and son was very meh
